Out of Africa, it comes
Roiling, broiling, swirling sand
Biting, grinding, pounding sandwind
The sound it makes!
Swirling, swirling, oh God
See children, the Western Wall, thru the haze
See children, the Tower of David, thru the daze.
We escape to a shuttered café where
the kindest young Israeli
brings damp towels
to wipe the children’s hands and faces.
Respite and coffee
Respite and pastry.
Then out again
into the swirling sand
sand sand
sand sand
sa sa sa
